Situated at the top of the Hermitage hill, around the chapel, in a place named the Ermite. The vines are 80 years old and are on granitic soils which are very poor, which make the vines struggle and translate to the complexity of the wine. The nose has black fruits with spices and ink overtones, and the tannins are at the same time powerful and velvety. Smoky and pepper overtones express wonderfully the Syrah variety on granitic soil.

This is a delightful appealing Pinot from Central Otago with forward strawberryfruit and a touch of spice. The fruit was harvested in separate parcels in the vineyard and this was maintained through the winery for blending. It wasaged in a mix French oak to develop the smooth but not overpowering oak flavours.
